- This site has been significantly simplified. After five posts in three years, and over a year without one, it's clear that I'm not a blogger and there's no burning fire inside to broadcast to the world. For now, this "Now" page is my little writing space. I think I prefer its ephemerality.
- For those who saw me limping around in a moon boot in June, the fractured metatarsal has healed and I'm back to normal!
- I'm happy to report that the new Joy Fried Chicken venue in Enmore is as good as ever. In a city that loves its chicken, and as someone who really likes Frangos, El Jannah et al., this is the best chicken in Sydney.
- The Artificial Intelligence overlords has enabled some cool toys, but has not replaced us yet.
- I'm finally starting to catch up on sleep after, honestly, quite a disappointing World Cup tournament...
- The expanded format killed the stakes on too many of the games, and despite the extended format there simply weren't nearly as many memorable moments as previous tournaments.
- We got a worthy champion, albeit an incredibly unsexy one which will be remembered as suffocating and resilient more than anything else.
- The Socceroos front was generally positive, despite a disappointingly and counterproductively negative tactical set-up, with the U23 generation looking very strong by recent standards. Some early post-WC signs are very promising, others less so.
- But it's all kinda moot because the game's gone. Its custodians have demonstrated there is no depth they won't stoop to, nor any mechanism capable of restraining them.
